In the various parks in the territory, numerous paths lead through the quiet of the natural landscape and protected areas, and offer ideal settings for spending one or more days’ trekking.
The paths are clearly marked so that each person can choose the one that best suits him or her.
The area and refuges are easy to reach and it is the CAI - Parma (Club Alpino Italiano) which edits, arranges and plans the distance in kilometres, times required etc. for each path.

Trekking - Route n. 1 / Difficult
Starting Point: Salsomaggiore Terme - Monumento ai Caduti (War Memorial monument), situated at the beginning of viale Cavour.

Calculated time for the walk about 3 hours

Typology Difficult (it is advisable to wear suitable clothes and shoes)

Route: Monumento ai Caduti (War Memorial monument), viale Cavour- street, via F. Ceriati - street, Salsominore "Villa"- small village, Antiche Saline (on your right), church of Salsominore, crossing for "Casa Barbarossa", small Castle of Scipione, Scipione village, principal road for the return.

Itinerary: From viale Cavour – Monumento ai Caduti (War Memorial monument) go up the way, at the crossing, further on following via F. Ceriati.
At the top of the hill, arriving at the crossroads, straight on in direction Salsominore. Go downhill, pass through the small inhabited of Salsominore and go on walking along the principal road, get over “Antiche Saline” of Roman age (on your right) and the restaurant “La Villa”.
When you arrive near the church of Salsominore, go further on for about 100 metres at the next junction follow up for the dirt road in direction of the private house. From here keep left following the path that goes across the fields. At the end of this pathway (uphill next to the vineyard) you will arrive to “Casa Crocetta”, then take the way on your right. From this way you will arrive to the small village of Scipione Castello (XIth century, once property of Pallavicino Marquis family). Being at the end of our route take the way back to Salsomaggiore.

Trekking - Route n. 2 / Easy
Starting Point: Salsomaggiore Terme - Central Post Office building situated at the beginning of viale Rimembranze

Calculated time for the walk about 2 hours

Typology Easy

Route: viale Rimembranze, scenic road, Belvedere and War Memorial Monument, small inhabited of Marzano, Church of Marzano, Sports Stadium, town centre.

Itinerary: the route begins from the Central Post Office building (crossing via Milano - viale Rimembranza) and goes on viale Rimembranze.
Following road indications arrive to a place called Belvedere (here there is the opportunity to admire the view and see the War Memorial Monument (Stele ai Caduti). Go back on the principal road, follow, right -hand side, straight on until you get to the small inhabited denominated Marzano - Volta; at the fork go on following indications for route n. 2. On the way you will see the small church of Marzano, pass through the small inhabited; from this point further on, you will arrive to the sports stadium (Campo Sportivo) located in via Filzi and then back to the centre of Salsomaggiore.

Trekking - Route n. 3 / Medium
Starting Point: Salsomaggiore Terme - War Memorial Monument, beginning of viale Cavour

Typology Medium

Route: War Memorial Monument (Monumento ai Caduti) - via Cavour - via F. Ceriati - St. Rocco Church - costa Marenga - inhabited of Campore - via Parma - viale Matteotti (way back)

Itinerary: the route begins from viale Cavour (near Terme Berzieri). From here you have to go up the road as far as the crossing of via Ceriati and then straight on. At the fork for Salsominore take the road to the right (if you follow left-hand side you will get itinerary route n. 1), on the way you will pass near an ex monastery (Convento Maria Immacolata) and a holding "podere Perdosa", at the end of which you will arrive to a small inhabited.
Reach the small church dedicated to St. Rocco and go further on along "Costa Marenga" where you will find other residential houses; go beyond the last building and after few metres (about 200 mt.) follow, right-hand side, the path that goes across the fields. Along the way you will see a small isolated house, straight on, go through the small wood then you will arrive in Campore a small place located at the entrance of Salsomaggiore, arriving from Fidenza.
From here you are on your way back to town centre: follow the road right-hand side for Salsomaggiore - via Parma, viale Matteotti and town centre.

Trekking - Route n. 4 / Easy
Starting Point: Salsomaggiore Terme - viale Romagnosi, scalinata Berardinelli

Calculated time for the walk about 2 hours

Typology Easy

Route: viale Romagnosi (flight of steps) - viale Marconi - Poggio Diana Club - Amelia aqueduct (in direction Tabiano) - Villa Paradiso - Case Zalaffi - Case Sparse (place denominated Ugolini) - Torrente Ghiaia bridge - via Saletti - via Costa - viale Vittoria - viale Berenini (Villa Igea) - piazza del Popolo (square)

Itinerary: the route begins from "Scalinata Berardinelli" located in viale Romagnosi, reach the top of the a flight of steps and turn right-hand side, arrive at the crossing of viale Marconi, go up the street in direction of Tabiano Terme. After few metres, on your right, you have to take the pedestrian crossing, go up the steps and at the end of it you will arrive top-hill near "Poggio Diana Club". Go ahead for few metres in direction Tabiano; on the principal road after a small building called "acquedotto Amelia" (an aqueduct), by the fork go up the road for "Villa Paradiso". Take the path, on the left, downhill. On this way you will see few isolated houses; at the end of the path, turn right, in via Seletti and cross the small bridge on Ghiara river. When you are in via Seletti turn right in via Costa, take viale Vittoria and then follow the street and get via Berenini, pass near the Villa Igea clinic. From this point you will arrive directly in piazza del Popolo a square in town centre.

Trekking - Route n. 5 / Easy
Starting Point: Tabiano Terme - Hotel Panoramik, via Tabiano

Calculated time for the walk about 1hour and 30 minutes

Typology Easy

Itinerary: Hotel Panoramic - Ponte Rosso (bridge) - Belvedere, place from where you can go on and follow route n. 6 - Pozzo Arvé (through the pinewood) - Terme Respighi, spa centre.

Itinerary: the walk begins from via Tabiano, near Hotel Panoramik, from here straight on in direction camping Arizona. On the way, by the fork, turn left hand-side and cross the small bridge (Ponte Rosso) over Rovacchia river. Then go ahead in direction of a place called Belevedere (in this area you will find pizzeria "La Primula"); here you can decide to follow the initial route n. 5 or make a change of programe and go further on taking a longer route denominated n. 6.
In order to continue our itinerary take the main road, pass near Pozzo Arvé (an aqueduct building) and then straight on through the small pinewood at the end of which you will arrive at Terme Respighi, the spa centre in Tabiano.

Trekking - Route n. 6 / Easy
Starting Point Tabiano Terme: Hotel Ducale, viale Respighi

Calculated time for the walk about 2 hour and 30 minutes

Typology: Easy and mixed route

Route: Hotel Ducale (50 mt. near the hotel) - via Gandolfi - Villa Mozza (a factory with cows grazing - follow for the panoramic road) - wayside shrine - "Locanda del Colle" restaurant - Castle of Tabiano (Castello di Tabiano) - fork for Belvedere locality- Tabiano (pinewood) - Terme Respighi (Spa)

Itinerary: the route begins near hotel Ducale (50 mt. on the left side of viale Respighi. Go up via Gandolfi, following the path; go over the next three hairpin bends and further on uphill; pass near Villa Mozza (a factory with cows grazing) and afterwards get the panoramic road till you arrive at the wayside shrine.
From here follow road indications for Tabiano Castello (the castle), go over "Locanda del Colle" restaurant and then following a tree-lined road you will be near Castello di Tabiano (dated XII century, feud of Marquis Pallavicino) and near S.S. Gervaso e Protasio church (dated XVI century).
From this point go downhil following three hairpin bends, you will arrive at the fork for Belevedere locality. In this place you will see a restaurant-pizzeria called "La Primula", go further on following the main road, pass through the pinewood at the end of it you will be in Tabiano near the thermal centre of Terme Respighi.

Trekking - Route n. 7 / Difficult
Starting Point: Tabiano Terme - viale Fidenza

Calculated time for the walk about 2 hour and 30 minutes

Typology: Difficult

Route: viale Fidenza (Pro Loco Office), Variatico locality, Ghiaine locality (after 1 km.), Case Pelati (a group of houses), Farolda School (near the camping Arizona), viale Tabiano.

Itinerary: the route begins from viale Fidenza near Pro Loco office, by "Esso" petrol pump; from here take the road on your left-hand side uphill. Go straight on along the path; when you arrive at the fork, go further on in direction of the place called Variatico.
By the farmhouse take the path thruogh the fields, downhill in direction of the locality called Ghiaine.
From this point, go on uphill, you will arrive to the main road for Bargone. On this way you will see many farmsteads (locally denominated as the name of the families who live there: Porta, Pelati, Lombasini) and at the end of this panoramic route you will be in the small inhabited called Poggetto.
Take the way towards Tabiano, following the principal road you will arrive near camping Arizona located at the entrance of the small thermal centre; then straight on along the main way (viale Tabiano) to town centre.
